Traditional joint family structure weak ho chuki hai, aur bohot saare elderly parents financially and emotionally dependent reh gaye hain. Law ne clear duty impose ki hai ki adult children apne parents ka maintenance ensure karein – basic food, shelter, medical care.
Parents special tribunals ya courts ke through monthly maintenance orders maang sakte hain. Process usually fast-track type design hota hai, taaki aged applicants ko saaloh wait na karna pade.
Amount decide karte waqt court children ki income, parents ki needs, aur other dependents sab consider karta hai.
Yeh obligation sirf legal nahi, moral bhi hai. Lekin law ek strong message deta hai – “hum palenge, woh apne aap dekh lenge” wali thinking acceptable nahi.
